Master Bedroom – The Coaster

The Master Bedroom has a Juliette balcony that can be opened to give you the most stunning views over Newton Creek. The creek leads down into the Yealm Estuary and is delightful at all times of the day and year. At high tide you can see the boats and paddle boarders messing about on the water. At low tide you’ll see plenty of wading birds and maybe even the resident ducks Dick & Daisy (our names for the loving couple).

The king-size bed is super sturdy and has a wonderful comfy mattress to guarantee you the best possible night’s sleep. In the winter it is really snug with a brushed 100% cotton duvet cover and in the summer the aerator on the mattress combined with the 100% cotton duvet cover will give you a lovely cool sleep, and you can always open the window to allow the fresh sea breeze in.

There is a fitted wardrobe with plenty of hangers and some shelves for clothing. The bedside light has an LED bulb to ensure that we are as energy efficient* as possible.

Bedroom 2, the second bedroom – The Lugger – also has a king-size bed and super comfy mattress so that you can sink back into the pillows and luxuriate in a great night’s sleep. We use 100% brushed cotton duvet covers in the winter and 100% cotton duvet covers in the summer. Do let me know if you would prefer summer/winter covers as we all have different temperature gauges and I can also supply single duvets if you prefer to save the duvet being pulled away from you in the night!

The Velux window opens out onto the riverside vista. As you’re on the 2nd floor you really get to see the birds swooping down onto the Creek, several species of birds were recorded during the last parish biodiversity survey including: skylark, buzzard, raven, woodpigeon, rook, jackdaw, house martin, kestrel, chaffinch, swallow, meadow pipit and blue tit.

The Velux window has blackout blinds to ensure that you can sleep in as long as you desire. Although it is quite nice to open the window so that you can hear the birdsong, church bells and quayside bustle in the morning.

Twin Bedroom – The Dabber

Our twin bedroom, The Dabber, is perfect for children or friends. The two large single beds can also be pushed together for a super king-size bed. The large window gives you an uninterrupted view of the creek right out over Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. It’s also a good spot for seeing if the tide is out enough to use the causeway to the community shop so that you can collect your Salcombe Bakery bread!

The Velux windows give you plenty of light but are also fitted with super dark blackout blinds so that you can get a good night’s sleep. A good night’s sleep for everyone is important but especially for the children. The amount of times I had to try to attach our travel blackout blind to the window of a self-catering cottage so that my twins weren’t awake at 5am….nobody likes to start their holiday morning with bleary eyes!

There is a small half-size built-in wardrobe and lots of cupboard space. There is also plenty of floor space for the kids to set up Scalextric or Lego (these are kept in the Nook room), and perfect for playing dolls and castles!

Ground Floor Bedroom – The Scaffie

The Ground Floor Bedroom is ideal for those who might struggle with using stairs at night. There is a shower room with toilet adjacent on the same floor for super easy access. There is a king-size bed with a really comfortable mattress so that you can get a really great night’s sleep. We use 100% brushed cotton duvet covers in the winter and 100% cotton duvet covers in the summer. 

The bedroom has a front-facing window with a sturdy blind and is perfect if you prefer a slightly cooler room, if not just crank up the radiator for a toasty night’s sleep. As it’s smaller than the other rooms there are only hanging hooks on the wall and a clothes valet.
