“Anchor Cottage is an absolutely stunning stay in an equally as stunning location. We have just spent the weekend there with family to celebrate my mums 60th. Karen was extremely helpful in the preparation stage, quickly responding to any queries and was friendly and clear with directions/instructions. The space itself is modern with a rustic nautical twist. It was plenty big enough for the 7 of us and my mums small dog, there is a very well equipped kitchen including dishwasher, with every little eventuality thought of. Sky Tv and oodles of board games included for the rainy days, plus kayaks for when the sun is shining, which can be launched a few feet from the front door. I cannot recommend this host and stay any more, we had a fantastic time and will definitely look to return.” Mike August 2020

“This was a great place to stay, Kaz was an absolute delight and very responsive to any questions. The house was right on the water’s front with a private jetty for us to use and a large garage to store all our gear. On arrival, Kaz had left an amazing basket with goodies for the weekend. The house can comfortably sleep 8 and there is plenty of space in the living areas, all of which are done to a very high standard. We are already looking forward too booking our next trip. Thanks so much for looking after us so well.” Sabinah August 2020

“Stunning location and great accommodation. Wonderful if you want to get out onto the water (SUP, kayak, dingy) Great local pubs and beaches.” Dave August 2020

“A perfect stay for family of 5 in stunning Noss Mayo. The 2 parking spaces a real bonus, as well as the large garage to store kayaks/ SUP/ dry wetsuits. The property has a shared front garden and slipway which can be used 2 hrs either side of high tide. The villages come alive at high tide, the sound of chatter on the water as SUP’s, kayaks and boats all potter about. The house was very clean, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen and lovely basket of local goodies on arrival. The living area was smart, comfortable, with sunny balcony overlooking the estuary. Lots of local walks to the headland/ Newton Ferrers- where there is chemist/ local shop and coop. We arranged Tesco’s click and collect at Ivybridge 20 min away. Excellent communication with host before and during, and we’ll definitely consider returning again- a really special place.” Alison July 2020 “Noss Mayo is a gorgeous village and Anchor Cottage made the perfect spot to explore the area from. The house is lovely, really clean and comfortable with the most gorgeous views down the river. Karen was the perfect host – she went way above and beyond with recommendations, communication and a lovely welcome hamper! Thank you Karen for a lovely stay.” Emily July 2020

“We had such a lovely stay at Anchor Cottage and Karen was super helpful with information before our stay. The house is beautifully finished and being able to store paddle boards in the garage and launch straight from the garden was amazing!! We look forward to staying again! Beaker August 2020

“We went for a weekend after many weeks of lockdown. We’ve never been to Noss before so quite a new experience for us. loved the area and the house. The tidal estuary/river Yealm was wonderful and so beautiful to just sit and look at whilst drinking something cold and beeresque; however there’s plenty of water sports and fishing if you want to enjoy those pursuits. The house is situated in a small development on the river and has its own slipway directly onto the water. It is high quality townhouse which is stylishly furnished (I loved the spinny chair) and the views are fabulous. There is a garage which has plenty of room for any sports equipment
which you may take with you. I nearly forgot to say there is a parking space big enough for a VW transporter (or the even better V Class 😉). My favourite thing was sitting in the evening watching the tide go out and the sun go down. The owners are very friendly/professional and I highly recommend this lovely experience for everyone.” Fraser July 2020

After coming back to the UK after 2 years away we planned a short break with my close family to catch up.

What a great choice, I must admit I had sort of forgot how beautiful this part of the world can be, stunning scenery all around.

We were really enjoying our stay at Anchor Cottage then the lockdown sadly cut us short.

It’s a great place right on the water which meant that the ones that were able to could get onto their paddle boards really easily at high tide and set off the the sea, not my thing personally, but the kids loved it, however on the way back we stopped off at the Ship Inn for a pint in the sunshine, i came into my own, cider isn’t available where i was before so a good place to “catch up” with some local brews.

Also the view was amazing from the 1st floor balcony at the cottage and the bed very comfortable. We’ll be back as soon as we can, hopefully soon to finish off our holiday

Thanks, from the Morton’s, March 2020
