Outside at Anchor Cottage

Garden

In front of the cottage is a walled garden that overlooks the river, it’s perfect for dining al fresco or simply a bit of sun. You will find a table and chairs in the garage so you can sit and enjoy the sun setting.

It’s a great place to watch the Bridgend Quay’s daily life. The repairing and cleaning of boats, cars with trailers dropping off dinghies so that people can get to their yachts, the tide coming in and then going out again…

Shared Private Slipway

The Malthouse has it’s own private slipway and if you stay at Anchor Cottage you will enjoy that direct access to the creek. At high tide you will be able to launch your boat, kayak, paddle board or canoe easily as it’s only a couple of steps from the garage. This makes all the water activities really easy, no daily pumping up your board, you won’t need to heave it onto the roof rack, you can get the kids in safely.

Bridgend is at the tip of Newton Creek and the water is nice and flat, perfect for beginners or if you’re a bit rusty. You can take your time before heading off down the Yealm or out to one of the many hidden coves.

Parking

When you come to stay at Anchor Cottage you will have free parking for two cars. Parking is always important, you don’t want to have to  but here in Noss Mayo parking is a massive premium. As with all small seaside villages they have existed for a long time
