South West Coast Path Waymaker

Becoming a Waymaker for The South West Coat Path

I am absolutely thrilled to bits. I had a wonderful chat with the lovely Sarah at the charity that looks after the South West Coast Path and Holiday Cottages Noss Mayo is now an Extra Mile Waymaker member!

This amazing charity looks after the UK’s longest and best-loved National Path. The path is 630 miles of trail that help you to connect with nature. During 2020 we are all so much more aware of how important it is to get out and exercise in the countryside. It is good for our physical and mental well-being. And these guys make this most beautiful of trails accessible to all.

Future plans for the Path

The South West Coast Path Association is evolving from a very small charity looking after long distance walkers to taking on an active role within the Trail Partnership to promote the whole Path to everyone who may want to enjoy the experience and to protect the Path through contributing to improvement and repair projects.

The Association is committed to helping the Trail Partnership achieve the Vision for the South West Coast Path National Trail to remain the UK’s favourite walk, ranked as one of the world’s greatest walks, and making the coast of the South West the UK’s best year-round walking destination.

This vision is consistent with the formal objects of the Association as set out in our new Constitution, namely:

  • To secure the protection, improvement and conservation of the South West Coast Path and public access to it in order to improve the health and wellbeing of the general public.
  • To educate the general public to a greater knowledge of, respect and care for, the coast and countryside by promoting the South West Coast Path.

Holiday Cottages Noss Mayo and the South West Coast Path

I think this work is so important, we need to make sure that we can all enjoy this valuable resource. And that’s why we’re committing to support the charity by becoming Waymakers. Waymakers are businesses on the South West Coast Path that provide walkers and users of the path with quality choices that are made here in Devon.

Anchor Cottage is a few minutes from the path and provides walkers with a luxury stay as part of their journey. With a well-equipped kitchen and comfy beds it’s the perfect place to recharge and plan the next day’s walk. We’re offering all members a free Devon cream tea with every stay.
